What is Fernox used for?
As one of the most recognised and trusted manufacturers of water treatment, the Fernox range of innovative products are used to extend the life of your Boiler and maintain your Central Heating system.
How long does Fernox F1 last?
The product is intended to be used as part of a system flush, and it is typically recommended to be re-added to the system every two years to maintain its effectiveness. However, the actual lifespan of Fernox F1 will depend on various factors such as the condition of the central heating system, the quality of the water in the system, and the frequency of use.
Depending on the product chosen, Fernox F1 can treat up to a 2000 litre system at a does rate of 0.5%
A correctly protected Boiler with both a filter and inhibitor will last up to 10 years or more.
Can you add too much Fernox?
The simple answer is no. Fernox themselves claim you can not technically do any damage by overdosing the system. However, we would always recommend following the ‘in use’ concentration that is specified on the product to avoid any concerns or complications.How do I use Fernox treatment?
In general, it is recommended to follow the following steps when using Fernox F1:
- Drain the central heating system and refill it with clean water.
- Add the required amount of Fernox F1 to the system according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Circulate the Fernox F1 through the system for the recommended amount of time, usually around 1-2 hours.
- Drain the system again and refill it with clean water to flush out any debris.
- Bleed the radiators to remove any air from the system.
